Kilometer
Kilometer or kilometre [km] is a unit of length from the SI system of units. It is defined as one thousand meters. The meter [m], is the base unit of length in SI system, defined as the distance traveled by light in vacuum in seconds.
Besides [km], other multiple and fraction units of the metre are defined through the decimal SI prefixes, as shown in the table:

International mile
International mile [mi] is a unit of length for the US customary system of units. Historically, many definitions of miles were employed for measuring land distances. Roman mile was defined as one thousand paces (double steps). Today, the international mile is defined through the meter SI unit as: 1 mi = 1,609.344 m (= 1.609344 km).
